KEY OBJECTIVES

  • Our challenge was to deliver growth following a number of seasons of sales decline and justify investments to take the business forward.
  • How do you retain appeal to your core, traditional marketing to Online Marketing of V&G, when to grow your numbers you need to build.
  • Grow market share in a fiercely competitive sector against bigger brands with bigger budgets. Identify points of difference to drive consumers to purchase and stockiest to list.

THE END RESULT

A large-scale bold, impactful promotion campaign co-sponsored by big brand suppliers. Giving customers the chance to win a van provided by suppliers every month, with thousands of runners-up vouchers driving customers back into the store. The promotion achieved excellent results with close to 65,000 customers participating, achieving sales uplift of 19% to 26% for sponsor brands, generating more sales for V&G and getting recognition from the global parent company Metro. And it cost nothing.

We were blown away by the market beating results... enquiries, brochure requests, web visits, likes.... all off the scale. However we would like to highlight just one: Bearing in mind our challenge was to prove whether a new approach could deliver growth... At its peak our segment focused approach resulted in a whopping 90% increase in website traffic, but most importantly a 70% increase in bookings year on year.
